I liked Wood's approach -- studying what's working rather than what's not -- again focus on the bright spots. Wood discovered the nurses reasons for staying in their jobs even though overworked and beaten down. It was one of identity -- all were loyal to the profession of nursing. But again, I believe the turning point was not to over analyze the situation -- the administrators began to help recognize people for extraordinary work. This produced impact beyond their original thoughts -- surveys showed improved ratings on patient satisfaction -- the end goal.
