True Calling Process

omg elements is under attack!!!Image by tommy the pariah via Flickr

Here's a link I found on the IUP alumni question/answer site on LinkedIn, maybe clarifies the way to FIND your purpose: http://www.biglinkrally.com
The Element explained ways of recognizing your purpose or being in the element. Those ways sounded a lot like the themes I found in my dissertation research about creating a new identity after a work transition.

  1. As I read this book, thoughts like "Am I doing what I was intended to do in this life? Even if I'm not, I'm too far along to change. But what if there is greater fulfillment to be had? Risky stuff!" I don't think our students will have the luxury (curse?) of lanquishing in a job their whole lives. They'll have to change (and hopefully grow) out of necessity. How do we prepare them, make them flexible enough for this new paradigm? You know, I think they'll be okay, having not been used to the old way (staying in one job most if not all your life). I think that they will be flexible enough to handle the change, but how do we educate them for flexibility/creativity? Where are they going to get the drive? Does it come with maturity? Look at Bodi Miller, bronze medal winner? He used to be the epitomy of the "who cares" kind of person?
