Chapters 2 & 3
I like how the book relates education to business. I never really thought of it in that way, and am happy to be enlightened by the comparisons. In chapters 2 and 3, I would start to lose the point the author was making and at about that time, he would bring it back in and tell me why it was relevent in that discussion. I am inspired by story of Jaime Escalante. It seems if you can just find that groove with any group of students, they sky is the limit! It's just finding that groove!

Thanks for commenting. I tried to read Chap. 2, but just couldn't focus on it. It was good to read that education is keeping up with change to a large degree. Didn't make it very far in Chap. 3 brfore I pooped out.
ReplyDeleteYour honesty is appreciated Mary Ann! I made it through both chapters, but must agree with Laura that I was getting a bit lost too! I found myself needing to take notes and make connections with what I know, education, so that I could understand the business part of it. Then, low and behold, the author would explain it in education related terms and viola! What I believed to be the meaning was confirmed. All of this basically means to me that without prior knowledge, we are all lost. I truly believe that helping the students to make connections with something they already know is key to comprehension in all subject areas. The trick is being in tune with what they actually know. I bet this is where the book is eventually going to take us. The kids already get the technology, we just need to figure all of it out!
